What is Wurtz Reaction?

In wurtz reaction alkyl halide produce hydrocarbon in the presence of Na & dry ether.

Like this :- 

R–X + Na + dry ether →R–R + 2NaX

This reaction follow free radical mechanism.

Using Wurtz Reaction methane CH4 molecule can't be formed.
